Green Healthcare Consultancy

The Green Healthcare Consultancy (GHC) enables healthcare systems to cut carbon, eliminate waste, and accelerate the transition to circular care. We work at the frontline of innovation with industry and partners to redesign products, pathways, and procurement to replace single-use with high-quality reusable solutions. Combining clinical expertise, engineering insight, and robust life cycle analysis, delivering independent, evidence-led change that protects patient safety, unlocking measurable environmental and financial benefits. GHC bridges the gap from strategy to implementation, helping the NHS and industry partners achieve net zero targets, build resilient systems, and realise the full value of sustainable healthcare at scale.

Approach to Healthcare

GHC’s approach is about turning sustainability from a policy ambition into an operational reality, delivering measurable reductions in carbon and waste while improving quality, resilience, and long-term value across the healthcare system.

Impact of Product/Services on Healthcare

GHC addresses a fundamental structural problem in healthcare: the mismatch between high-quality clinical care and high environmental cost. Modern systems, particularly the NHS, remain heavily dependent on single-use products, linear supply chains, and fragmented decision-making, driving carbon emissions, waste, and avoidable cost. GHC and new initiatives including value based procurement should improve this.

Innovation

The GHC in it’s formative period has delivered and supported the following innovations:
“At UV Smart, we are thrilled with the results of the comprehensive Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) conducted by Professor Yan Wang and her team at the University of Brighton. Their rigorous evaluation confirms that the UV Smart D60 is a transformative solution for sustainable healthcare.
The report highlights that decontaminating a reusable nasoendoscope with our UV technology generates only 7% of the carbon footprint compared to using a single-use device. Furthermore, the study shows that a reusable device reaches its environmental “breakeven point” in just 15 cycles when using the D60, eventually saving thousands kg of CO2 over its lifespan.
It has been a pleasure working with such a professional and insightful team. This study provides the high-quality, independent validation we need to show healthcare providers that they can achieve superior safety and efficiency without compromising their commitment to the planet. Hello Face – “The Green Healthcare Consultancy has been instrumental in advising and supporting our company from new concepts to market ready products.
Their access to key sustainable decision makers and authentic support, has given rise to many breakthroughs from previously stymied conversations.
We would wholeheartedly recommend Paul, and GHC as a positive, considerate and connected healthcare influencer, able to cut through the noise and bring life to much needed green innovations like ours.”

Future Direction

GHC’s future lies in owning the transition from linear to circular healthcare at scale.
The opportunity is not just to advise on sustainability, but to define how sustainable healthcare is operationalised, measured, and delivered across the system, including access to trial and pilot sites, procurement opportunities of sustainable products through the 13 Circular Economy Healthcare Alliance (CEHA) Trusts.
