Clean Hospitals

Clean Hospitals Organisation is based in Geneva. Clean Hospitals is the facilitator of a global network of International Stakeholders from academia, governmental bodies, professional Healthcare Associations, NGO’s and Healthcare Industry partners. Our mission is to elevate environmental hygiene standards worldwide, to create safer healthcare environments for patients and staff, Improving public health, driving global collaboration and participation at every level of healthcare hygiene support services and Infection Prevention.

Approach to Healthcare

We drive global impact by raising awareness on the critical role of environmental hygiene, driving research, delivering education and training and developing practical tools that enable measurable and sustainable improvements across health systems.

Impact of Product/Services on Healthcare

Clean Hospitals Day was established in 2020, led by Professor Didier Pittet and colleagues, to promote better environmental hygiene in healthcare, similar in spirit to to the WHO hand hygiene campaign. Six successful Campaigns have been conducted engaging hospitals worldwide. The Campaign materials have been translated into 19 languages raising global awareness of the of the critical role of healthcare environmental hygiene. Clean Hospitals has published over 50 scientific papers and developed a unique self-assessment tool for hospitals available free in 16 languages.

Innovation

The Healthcare Environmental Hygiene Self-Assessment Framework (HEHSAF) has been developed and Internationally validated to help healthcare facilities to identify areas for improvement in their environmental hygiene programs as well as benchmark this improvement over time.

Future Direction

In addition to the HEHSAF tool, Healthcare facilities now have the opportunity to join Clean Hospitals as participating facilities
This includes: Access to all Think Tanks, Journal Clubs, and Scientific Sessions. Opportunity to join special subject matter working groups.
A bi-yearly open forum meeting with infection prevention and hygiene experts
Opportunities for healthcare facilities to be put in touch with potential industry sponsors if they wish to conduct studies
