HaPPE Earth was established to tackle environmental damage caused the usage of LDPE based PPE. Founded by Dr Mary O’Riordan and Lisa O’Riordan a decision was made to pursue products that have no alternative resulting in an initial focus on splash aprons, hair nets, beard snoods and shoe covers. In addition, we provide the first medicalised biodigester available that is used for the management of food waste and all certified compostable products and packaging resulting in a reduction of carbon emissions by 94%.
Approach to Healthcare
We believe in a ‘reduce first’ approach. However, as some items used have no alternative we sought out materials that would do less harm to the environment settling on plant derived bio based polymers.
Impact of Products/Services on Healthcare:
Our products are 100% plant based and are manufactured in Europe with plans being made to establish a manufacturing base in the UK. As the NHS strives to reach ‘Net Zero’ our solutions in terms of both PPE and circular waste disposal can remove 1,000s of Tons of carbon emissions from the NHS.

Our PPE is 100% plant based and our full cycle model uses the first medicalised biodigester available.
Future Direction
Through consultation with medical professionals we aim to expand our product range to address thise products where no reusable version is available and where we can provide single use products that reduce carbon emissions by up to 90%.
